HOOVER, Ala. (AP) - Wes Rea's three-run homer helped Mississippi State defeat Arkansas 9-1 Tuesday in the opening round of the Southeastern Conference baseball tournament.
Rea's home run, his fifth of the season, came in the second inning off Arkansas starter Ryne Stanek (6-4), who has not won since beginning the season 6-0.
The Bulldogs (35-21) led 3-1 entering the ninth, then used two Arkansas throwing errors and a passed ball to scored six unearned runs.
Brandon Woodruff (1-2) struck out five and allowed two hits over five innings to get the win.
Arkansas (39-18) stranded 11 runners. The Razorbacks left the bases loaded in the third and hit into inning-ending double plays in the fifth and seventh.
The Razorbacks' only run came on a sixth-inning single by Matt Vinson that scored Bo Bigham.
Arkansas' Matt Reynolds reached base for the 40th consecutive game when he was hit by a pitch in the first.
