FT. SMITH, Ark. (AP) - Navy veteran Clint Davis says it's disheartening to know Americans devour details about celebrities but know next to nothing about troops who've died for the country overseas.

He says often, all that ends up being published about a service member killed in Iraq or Afghanistan is his or her name and age.

Davis and a fellow veteran have started a website featuring a different fallen troop each week, with pictures and details about their lives. Davis says the aim of AmericanHeroProject.org is to help people make a personal connection with the fallen, in the same way they do with movie stars and athletes.

He's encouraging surviving family members to visit the site and submit their loved ones' stories.
