FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. (AP) - The University of Arkansas says it will offer free tuition for credit courses for Arkansans 60 or older who wish to continue their education.

The university says the free tuition is contingent on space availability for classes. Seniors are encouraged to apply by Aug. 1 for the fall semester.

The university's coordinator of senior citizen admissions says many older Arkansans are interested in furthering their education. Julie Crawford says some wish to pursue a degree while others want to learn a new language or subject matter.

The university says the program keeps growing each year.

Those interested must complete an application form and provide age verification to enroll in the tuition-free courses.
