COMMERCE CITY, Colo. (CNN/KUSA) -- Colorado authorities located the remains of a baby this week at a regional landfill in Commerce City.
They believe the body found Wednesday is that of 7-month-old Torrey Brown Jr, who was reported missing in late March. Hundreds of volunteers combed through 13,000 tons of trash at the Arapahoe Disposal Site.
Police learned in April the baby was thrown into a dumpster. They quickly began searching.
The baby's mother is jailed on first degree murder and child abuse charges. The Colorado Department of Human Services has opened a child-fatality review in the case, indicating that the baby had contact with county child-welfare services before his death.
