EL DORADO, Ark. (AP) - An Arkansas prosecutor says law enforcement officers were justified in using deadly force in a shootout that killed a man accused in the death of two people, including a distant relative of former Gov. Mike Huckabee.

Prosecutor Robin Carroll said Monday it was clear that law enforcement officers were justified in their use of deadly force in the January shootout that left Donald Hux dead.

Authorities say Hux shot Sandy Huckabee and kidnapped Huckabee's wife, Amy. Carroll says Hux later shot and killed Amy Huckabee, who was his ex-wife. Hux died in a shootout with police.

Sandy Huckabee was a distant relative of former presidential hopeful Mike Huckabee.

The El Dorado News-Times first reported the prosecutor's decision after he sent a letter to the Arkansas State Police with his findings.
