LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (KTHV) -- Chris Olsen from Botanica Gardens always has great advice on home and gardening projects.
Segment 1: Wild animal containers
Have fun and dress up your interior or exterior with potted animal containers. There are so many different containers with animal themes. Why not plant a frog pot with succulents and then for an added twist tuck in a vegetation garden frog statue. The same can apply to any animal container. You can take a pot in the shape of a bird and add indoor tropical plants and then accessorize with a moss covered bird and for that perfect gift included a bar of soap wrapped in bird paper and why not a glass paper weight with a bird as the focal point.
Segment 2: Mirrors that always reflect beauty
Spice up your wall with a customize decorated mirror. So fun and so easy to do. This project is only found right here on Today's THV.
What you need:
Old framed Mirror
Painters Tape and newspaper
Colorful Paper Napkins
White acrylic gloss paint
Craft knife or razor blade
What to do:
Step 1 - Tape off mirror with newspaper and tape. Also, cover work surface.
Step 2 - Paint frame with primer and allow to dry.
Step 3 - Tape off outside area of frame where napkins will go and spray black;allow to dry. Remove tape.
Step 4 - Peel napkins apart so that you have only 1 layer, cut napkins in half.
Step 5 - Paint modge podge on frame where you want the napkins to cover a section at a time. Using a clean brush, lay napkin over modge podge area and press down carefully with brush so that the napkin sticks and goes into crevices but doesn't tear. If napkin tears, just add a tiny piece over the area and tap down with brush. Napkins will hang over edges a bit. Continue doing so until the entire frame is covered.
Step 6 - Paint modge podge over entire napkin area and allow it to dry.
Step 7 - Use craft knife to cut away any napkin that is hanging over edges. Touch up with paint if necessary.
Step 8 - Using white paint and dry chip brush, dry brush paint over napkin area to highlight the indentions in the frame.
Step 9 - Remove all tape and newspaper.
