ROCHESTER, NY (CNN/WROC) - Some teens spend hundreds of dollars for their prom dresses, but one New York teen decided she'd skip the stores and make her own.
Hy-Deia Walker's love for fashion started in second grade. "I would just cut up everything in my house and I would make doll clothes and I started making wallets for Mother's Day and then I got into pillows and I finally made my first shirt in fifth grade."
Now in her senior year at Northwestern College Prep, she's getting ready for a career in fashion. And this year, she's made her own prom dress.
