MOSCOW, Russia (CNN/RT) - Muscovites celebrated the beginning of summer on June 2 by launching thousands of Chinese lanterns into the night's sky.
Around 5,000 people took part in the event. The proceedings from the festival were donated to Moscow orphanage.
One participant said he came to the event "to support this cause. I think donated money to orphanages is very important."
The organizers hope to hold more festivals in the future.
