LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (KTHV) -- Here are some fun ideas from Little Rock Family.

Movies in the Park at Riverfest Amphitheatre, June 6

The Movies in the Park summer season opens today with a showing of the blockbuster hit Transformers. The film begins at sundown in the Riverfest Amphitheatre and is free to the public. Visitors are encouraged to bring lawn chairs and picnics. The free outdoor series includes several additional family-friendly films, including Puss in Boots on June 20 and Annie on August 1.

The Arkansas Shakespeare Theatre Festival, June 7-July 1

The Arkansas Shakespeare Theatre Festival kicks off Thursday (June 7) with a pay what you can outdoor performance of the romantic comedy Twelfth Night at the Village at Hendrix in Conway. Young viewers will see one of Shakespeare's often-used plot tools -- mistaken identity -- in action when the shipwrecked Viola disguises herself as a boy. Hilarious havoc ensues when Viola falls in love with Duke Orsino, who is in turn in love with Countess Olivia, who thinks she is in love with Viola as a man.

On Friday (June 8) at Reynolds Performance Hall in Conway, catch the only non-Shakespeare work in the festival, Big River. The Tony Award-winning musical is based on Mark Twain's The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn, and is sure to be a hit with families.

This year's offering specifically for young audiences is a 45-minute adaptation of The Tempest (first performance is June 20). The story follows Miranda, whose life on a magical island with her father is disturbed when enemies
come near their shore.

Hoop Jams at the Clinton Presidential Center, June 9-10

Work on that slam dunk and bring your A-game to Hoop Jams at the Clinton Presidential Center Saturday and Sunday (June 9-10). The three-on-three basketball tournament is open to players ages 6 and up of all heights and abilities (though we imagine the taller participants will have an advantage in the slam-dunk contest).

The competition hopes to foster community camraderie and helps to support the educational programs of Arkansas Baptist College and the Clinton Foundation. Joe Johnson, an Arkansas native and guard for the Atlanta Hawks, serves as honorary chairman. The NBA star will attend the games and present the winning teams with their awards.

The tournament is held from 9 a.m.-6 p.m. Saturday (June 9) and noon-6 p.m. Sunday (June 10) at the Clinton Presidential Center Park.
