LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (KTHV) -- The U.S. Government is seeking a "reasonable plan" for cleaning up the Little Maumelle River.

Docks, boats and other debris became entangled during a flood in May of 2011. It was never cleaned up. One year after the flood, the issue is being addressed.

On May 18th, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers sent a letter to the owners of River Valley Marina giving them a deadline of three weeks.

The marina had to submit "a reasonable plan" by June 8 detailing when the debris will be removed, or the owners face a fine of $27,500.

The Corps informed THV that the marina owners have mailed a letter, and as long as it is postmarked by June 8, there will not be a penalty. The Corps expects to receive the letter by Tuesday.
