MANCHESTER, Conn. (CNN/WTNH) -- A man in a chicken suit robbed of his American flag. But police doesn't suspect "fowl" play.

This isn't a story of why the chicken crossed the road, rather why someone crossed the road to the chicken.

Manchester's Boston Market is celebrating a grand re-opening. Wednesday to entice customers, Eric Dido donned his chicken suit to bring a hungry flock.

It was working except the flag he was holding was suddenly pecked, wait picked from his hand. He says, "I was just standing there, and a guy a couple of lanes over in traffic, he decides to run out of his car, he was a passenger. He decided to take my flag run back to his car, so I was down a flag, but I did get another, we had to get a replacement."

The suspect flew the coup, police were called and Eric resumed his roost for the good of the company.

After all, Eric is no, well, chicken. Restaurant General Manager Nathan Atwood says, "He suggested retiring the costume I said, 'Come on man, you're famous now. It's Thunder the Wonder Chicken.'" Dido says, "It was a harmless prank, it's completely hilarious. I take it in good fun."
