LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (KTHV) - Joined by our oh-so-talented and smart intern, J.D. Williams, who provided the slide whistle, THV's Craig O'Neill declares the week's "Winners and Losers."
The first winner goes to Barton Coliseum. Just when you thought the old bard was done for, lo and behold the Arkansas Athletic Association agrees to make it the site of the State Basketball Championships.
Labor unions, however, were declared losers. When Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker won his recall election Tuesday night, it was a blow to labor unions. They had fought to take the governor down. It's another example of their clout reduction over the last decade.
Another winner goes to Breezy Meadows. After three Osborne properties didn't bring what had been hoped for, Breezy Meadows pulled in over $800,000 yesterday.
Fayetteville Shale is declared as a winner as well. The investment from energy companies in Arkansas is almost 30 percent higher than projected since 2008. That's over $12.5 billion.
Another loser goes to Friendship, Ark. Due to budget stress, the City Council has decided to close down its police department.
