GOLDSBY, Okla. (AP) - The Oklahoma Highway Patrol says two men were killed when they were hit by a car on the shoulder of Interstate 35 in central Oklahoma.
Troopers say 34-year-old David Walter of Noble and 63-year-old Paul Householter of Plano, Texas, died in the collision in McClain County.
The OHP says the two were walking on the shoulder of the interstate to help another motorist when they were struck Saturday.
Investigators say the driver of the car that hit the men had moved from the outside lane to the inside lane because of other vehicles stopped on the shoulder of the interstate. The driver said she swerved back across the outside lane to avoid traffic that had slowed in front of her when she drove onto the shoulder and hit the men.
