UNDATED (CNN) -- The summer movie season is heating up and there are a few new flicks hitting the big screen this week.

In a city where stars are born, two aspiring musicians set out to make it big. Set to a soundtrack of classic rock from the 80s, this film adaptation of the Broadway smash "Rock of Ages" chronicles every beat of a rock n' roll romance

it all takes place in an la club banking its survival on a legend Stacie Jaxx. With a cast that includes Tom Cruise, Alec Baldwin, Russell Brand and Mary J. Blige "Rock of Ages" is rated PG-13.

Every family has its quirks and this is one is no exception. In "That's My Boy" Donny, a teenager played by Adam Sandler, fathers a son and raises the boy with some unconventional parenting.

Now estranged, Donny needs his son's help to avoid jail time. Proving he's a dad worthy of his son's support won't be easy but it sure will be funny. Also staring Andy Samberg, "That's My Boy" is rated R.
