LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) - Arkansas' unemployment rate rose one-tenth of a percentage point to 7.3 percent last month.
The Department of Workforce Services says the increase mirrors a trend seen at the national level. In May, the national unemployment rate rose to 8.2 percent from 8.1 percent in April.
The agency says eight major industry sectors posted gains in Arkansas last month, led by the addition of 1,800 manufacturing jobs. Employment in professional and business services rose by 1,000 - thanks to seasonal gains at landscaping companies and at employment agencies.
Construction jobs increased by 500, as did leisure and hospitality jobs.
Jobs decreased in the trade, transportation and utilities sector, along with in the education and health services sector.
