HOT SPRINGS, Ark. (AP) - Gov. Mike Beebe is making a plea for cooperation and civility in state and local government.
Beebe told the Arkansas Municipal League on Thursday that Congress has lost the ability to compromise and he doesn't want to see that happen in the Legislature or in communities across the state.
Beebe told the group that partisanship has attacked the country from within and urged them to elect people who believe in working together.
Beebe is heading toward his last regular legislative session as governor. The Democrat struggled at times in 2011 with partisan moves in the Legislature, where Democrats could lose their majority in the fall election.
