LONOKE COUNTY, Ark. (KTHV) -- The Humane Society and Lonoke County deputies have rescued over 70 animals from an alleged "puppy farm."

Authorities say they stepped in to the alleged "puppy farm" at Sentell Loop, at Lewisburg and Highway 319, because of heat conditions.

Many of the dogs seized were those with short snouts, meaning they have a difficult time breathing in hot temperatures.

Kay Simpson, director of the Humane Society of Pulaski County, says the animals were given water, but it was warm.  She says there was no cool water available to the animals.

The Humane Society first seized the animals who needed care the most, and then the others.
