GENESEE COUNTY, MI (WNEM) - Authorities say they've identified a body found in a Flint-area landfill as that of a 38-year-old Canadian man who had been missing since last month.
The Flint Journal reports police confirmed the body found Friday by a worker at the Brent Run landfill in Genesee County's Montrose Township was that of Kevin Joseph Arendt of Mississauga, Ontario.
Police say Arendt was last seen leaving a bar June 27. Cause of death wasn't known.
Authorities say no foul play is suspected, but the investigation is ongoing.
The discovery has sent shock waves through the community.
"I thought, 'not in Montrose,' that [was] my first reaction," said resident Betty Tipton. "This is a small town, we don't expect to have that kind of stuff [to happen]."
Hurley Medical Center is conducting an autopsy. The landfill is about 70 miles northwest of Detroit.
