POPE COUNTY, Ark. (KTHV) -- Crews are working to contain a wildfire in Pope County.
The Associated Press reports that officials say about 220 acres have burned and the fire is moving north. Around 150 homes were evacuated, authorities say, around St. Joe's Road, Murdoch Road, Hartwick Lane, and Kenny's Cove.
The Red Cross had opened a shelter at Atkins First Baptist Church at 201 North Church Street, but people are now clear to go home. The Appleton fire chief Mike Hughes says the fire is 70 percent contained at this time.
No structures have been destroyed.
