HOT SPRINGS, Ark. (AP) - A wildfire near Lowell damaged a home and fires in Garland and Johnson counties threatened a handful of rural residences.

Fire crews on Friday battled blazes as the state looked forward to a few days early next week with cooler temperatures and the prospect of some rainfall.

The Northwest Arkansas Times reported (http://is.gd/Ei7zMZ ) a trash fire spread and burned the home at Lowell. A fire was reported on Interstate 40 at the border between Pulaski and Faulkner counties. Two fires in Garland County consumed about 13 acres and also threatened a few residences.

Crews also battled a wildfire in Johnson County north of Clarksville.

All but two of Arkansas' 75 counties are under burn bans and the entire state is at extreme risk of wildfire.
