SAN ANTONIO (AP) - Police say a man fled a tropical-themed San Antonio nightclub and was hit by a car as a person in a gorilla costume who'd heard him threaten suicide chased after him.
The incident happened in the pre-dawn hours Friday outside Coco Bongo, a bar near San Antonio International Airport that features a server in a gorilla costume. According to a police report, a person dressed in the costume told investigators the man said he wanted to kill himself before running out of the bar and to nearby U.S. 281.
The San Antonio Express-News (http://bit.ly/OC6W1h) reports that a vehicle hit the man as he ran toward oncoming traffic. He was taken to University Hospital, but police say his injuries weren't life-threatening.
No one else was injured. No charges were filed.
