LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) - The state Education Board has approved a proposal that keeps the Arkansas Governor's School in Conway until 2015 and adds two weeks to the program.

The panel on Monday accepted a recommendation to keep the program at Hendrix College. The state issued a request for proposals to four-year institutions and Hendrix was the only school to respond.

The residential program for the state's top rising seniors has run for four weeks each summer but will last for six weeks starting next year.

The state says more than 11,200 students have attended Governor's School since its inception in 1980 at Hendrix.
