UNDATED (CNN) - It's no secret that pets are not only great companions, but are also good for health. Now, a new study finds children who are born to a family with pets seem better able to ward off certain illnesses.
It's a study out of Finland that finds babies who have a cat or dog around during their first year have fewer health problems than little ones who don't have pets.
Although more research is needed, doctors say there's something about animals that affects an infant's immune system which can protect against certain childhood infections.
