SEARCY, Ark. (KTHV) -- A White County man who reportedly told deputies that a woman shot herself in the head has now been charged with her murder.

On April 20, White County Sheriff's deputies were called to a home on Cut-Off Road, outside of Searcy, for a report of a suicide.

When deputies arrived they found Donna Kennedy, 42, unresponsive with a gunshot wound to her head. According to the report, Charles Scott Berry, 48, told them Kennedy had shot herself.

After an ongoing investigation, Berry was subsequently charged with second-degree murder.

Berry is currently being held at the White County Detention Center on a $200,000 bond and a court date of September 4.
