LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (KTHV) - Want to feel like a hero? You have a chance make a dream come true for disabled kids by helping them build a wheelchair accessible playground.
Since 1990, Helping Hand has provided children with special needs Occupational, Physical, and Speech Therapy Services on an outpatient basis (birth to 21 years) as well as the non-profit Learning Center which provides Day Habilitation in a preschool setting for ages 6 weeks to 6 years.
Now Helping Hand is focusing on building a completely wheelchair accessible playground that would allow for inclusive play, which means wheelchair or not, all kids can play together. By creating an environment that will stimulate all of the senses, this playground can be used as a therapy tool as well.
To raise funds for the playground project, Helping Hand is hosting the MISSION:POSSIBLE fundraiser at Next Level Event in Little Rock on Thursday, July 26 from 5:30-9 p.m.
Along with food and drink, there will be a silent auction with items from two rounds of golf at Maumelle Country Club, a 3-carat diamond ring from Crown Jewelers, a box at Oaklawn, St Louis Cardinals tickets, a lunch cruise for two on the Arkansas Queen and much more.
Tickets are $50 per person and can be purchase online or by calling Susan Dohner at 791-3331.
