NORTH LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (KTHV) A very prestigious award is given today to a North Little Rock police officer. The American Legion honored Officer Tommy Norman as officer of the year.
Officer Norman is known for his community service during Back to School events and Shop with a Cop.
The American Legion is the state's largest veteran's service organization in Arkansas. Officer Norman says this is a great honor for him and his department.
"Just a lot of hard work day in and day out in the community given back to others trying to improve other people's lives.. As a police officer you carry the gun you wear the badge but you can also have a large impact on a certain community."
Officer Norman says he has received 10 Officer of the Year awards, but this is his first one from the American Legion.
