Officials have recovered the body of an Elkins man from the White River in last night's double stabbing just outside the city.

The body of Chris Kelley, 44, will be sent to the state Crime Laboratory for autopsy.

The suspect in the case, Jacob Holly of Rogers, flagged down an off-duty officer Saturday night and said he stabbed two people who were trying to drown him.

Emergency responders took the other victim to the hospital from the scene at Highway 74 East and the White River Bridge. Shawn Kelley, 22, of Elkins was in stable condition Sunday.

Washington County sheriff's deputies and Elkins police searched into the night Saturday under the bridge and a wooded area for Chris Kelley. The search turned to the White River, where his body was found about 2 p.m. Saturday.

Holly, 27, is charged with first-degree battery. Police arrested him at the scene last night.
