UNDATED (CBS) -- The United States is condemning a bus bombing that killed at least six Israeli tourists in the Bulgarian resort town of Burgas. Israel is pointing the finger at Iran.

Young Israelis cried and hugged each other after a bomb ripped apart their bus in the Bulgarian resort city of Burgas. The group had just boarded at the airport when the blast hit.

Black smoke poured from the bus and a number of other vehicles caught fire.

Several Israeli tourists were killed and more than two dozen injured. Israel is blaming Iran for the deadly blast calling it a terrorist attack.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is promising a tough response and the White House is backing Israel and offering support. White House spokesperson Jay Carney says, "The United States condemns such attacks, on innocent people especially children in the strongest possible terms. The United States will support our friends and allies as they confront terrorism."

Iran has not responded. It's unclear if the bombing was a suicide attack, or if someone detonated the explosives.

Police in Bulgaria's capital city have beefed up security in all public places linked to the Jewish community.
