SEARCY, Ark. (AP) - Harding University officials say former football coach Clifford John Prock has died.
Officials announced Wednesday that Prock died at his home Tuesday following a lengthy battle with a form of Lewy Body dementia. He was 83.
Prock coached the team for 28 years, during which time he won NAIA coaching honors. The Bisons were Co-Arkansas Intercollegiate Conference champions in 1972 and won the Cowboy Bowl.
When he retired in 1987, Prock was the fifth most successful active coach in the NAIA.
He was born in Hollis, Okla., and graduated from high school in 1948. Prock served in the Oklahoma National Guard during the Korean War.
He attended Southwestern Oklahoma State University and earned bachelor's and master's degrees in industrial arts.
Prock is survived by his wife, Charlene, and three children.
According to Harding University, visitation will be Thursday from 6-8 p.m. with the funeral being held Friday at 2 p.m. Both will be held at West Side Church of Christ in Searcy.
