LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (KTHV) - Too often we report the negative news, but great things are happening in your community each day.
Here's a look at a few stories that are on The Brighter Side...
Targeting needy students with unique program
68 students became VIP shoppers at Target Thursday as the Salvation Army and the national retailer joined forces to help kids gear up for the upcoming academic year with the Target School Spree.
Lieutenant Jason Sebo, a core officer with the Salvation Army, tells us why this program is helping students succeed.
"With rising temperatures and with rising electricity bills and utility bills, a lot of families are faced with having to pay those bills, to pay for food, and now they're faced with having to get school supplies."
Each child selected by The Salvation Army received an $80 Target gift card.
Sweet school drive
Want to help students get ready for the upcoming school year, all while treating your sweet tooth? Head over to Tootsweets Cupcakery in Searcy from July 23 through August 10 and receive a free cupcake in exchange for any new school supply.
The store is located at 1509 Ondra Street and is open from 9 to 5.
