AURORA, Colo (KMGH) - One of the shooting victims in the theater shooting in Aurora, Colorado Friday told the media how the terrifying event unfolded.

From a hospital bed with a breathing tube still in, Stephen Barton recounted his chilling experience as the shooting started.

According to Barton, he saw the shooter aim and fire at the crowd from one still position in the front right of the theater near an emergency exit.

Barton was at the theater with two other friends who were accompanying him on a cross country bike ride that was set to end in San Francisco.

Barton's injuries consist of bullet wounds to the throat and neck area along with shrapnel wounds to his arms.

Police have the alleged gunman in custody, 24 year old James Holmes. Officials say Holmes was wearing a gas mask and set off an unknown gas in the theater before he began shooting randomly into a crowd of people at the theater.

Reports say the suspect used an AR-15 assault rifle, a Remington 870 shotgun and a .40-caliber Glock handgun in the massacre.
