LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (KTHV) - Officials with the American Red Cross of Greater Arkansas and the Northwest Arkansas Chapter say disaster teams are still on the scene of a wildfire in communities of Yell and Perry counties.

The wildfire caused an evacuation of nearly 1,000 residents.

"Drought conditions and the ease to which fires start and spread are reminders for Arkansans to not only be fire safe, but to prepared should evacuation orders be given," stated communication information officer Brigette Williams.

She goes on to say, "We encourage residents to visit www.arkansasredcross.org to review fire safety and evacuation tips to increase their safety and preparedness."
