LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (KTHV) -- Walkers and joggers along Kavanaugh Blvd. in Little Rock are taking advantage of free water.

Andrea Cordell lives on the corner of Cantrell and Kavanaugh and started offering water after she realized there is a great need.

"It's hot outside and I don't want people falling out in my yard just due to lack of hydration. Something, I've thought about for a while. A couple of years ago I came out to get the mail and there was a guy laid out on the steps and he was just thirsty and needed some water and a place to rest."

Now, she's hoping her charitable offer will also help teach her kids a lesson on helping others.

"I have them come out and check it because I think it's important for them to know we need to help our neighbors and give back a little bit. Even if it's water in an ice chest in the front yard."

Cordell says she's also teaching a lesson of trust to those who stop to take water.

"I made a new sign that says, 'Thou shall not steal', because last Friday the whole ice chest was taken and I just filled it completely with water and it was taken. It kind of got me down for a little bit, but I said you know, I'm going to the store. I'm buying myself a new cooler. Filling it with water, painting myself a new sign and sticking it back out."

A good deed that Cordell says is warming hearts and cooling bodies.

"I have people tell me that they're glad we're doing it and it makes them smile when they see somebody take it or just seeing the sign makes them smile."
