FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. (AP) - Arkansas linebacker Alonzo Highsmith excelled in his first season with the Razorbacks, starting all 13 games and finishing with 80 tackles.

The son of the former standout Miami running back and NFL veteran of the same name is healthy after missing spring practice with a torn pectoral muscle. He is ready to lead an Arkansas defense eager to prove it belongs with the Southeastern Conference's best.

Highsmith joined the Razorbacks last season after earning junior college All-American honors at Phoenix (Ariz.) College.

He quickly become one of Arkansas' most dependable players at outside linebacker and helped the team finish 11-2 last season, including a win over Kansas State in the Cotton Bowl. Highsmith has been named preseason second-team All-SEC this season.
