ERIE, Colo. (AP) - Three adults have been injured in an explosion and partial roof collapse at a middle school east of Boulder.
Erie Middle School was closed for summer break at the time of the explosion Wednesday.
School district spokesman John Poynton says two construction workers and a school district employee were taken to a hospital. Laura McConnell, a spokeswoman with the Mountain View Fire Protection District, says they suffered fall- and burn-related injuries.
Poynton told the Daily Camera (http://bit.ly/R9j4J6 ) that initial reports indicate a water heater may have exploded in a part of the school that is being renovated.
Students aren't set to return to class until Aug. 16.
Erie is about 14 miles northeast of Boulder.
