BATESVILLE, Ark. (AP) - The Independence County sheriff says a man has died after he was brought in to the county jail.

Sheriff Steve Jeffery says officers were called to a home in Batesville at 4 a.m. Thursday by a woman who wanted two men removed from the home. The sheriff says one of the men, Roshiek Wren, had an outstanding warrant and police took him into custody.

The sheriff says emergency crews were called to the jail less than two hours later because Wren had ingested a "foreign substance." Jeffery says Wren was taken to White River Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.

His body has been sent to the Arkansas Crime Laboratory for an autopsy.
