NORTH LITTLE ROCK Ark.; (KTHV)-- If you are looking to make some purchases and save some money, this is your weekend to shop. It's a tax-free weekend in Arkansas. Thousands of people came through McCain Mall today, all ready to make some purchases without paying sales tax.
Veolette Pennington and her daughter Gabi are on a mission. "I'm shopping all the big sales and trying to get everything tax free." And she's not the only one looking for good buys. Thousands of people came through McCain Mall Saturday looking for bargains. "It shocked me whenever I rang up and it I actually paid what it said, it didn't keep adding on more so, I love that."
Pennington and her daughter are out shopping and saving on school clothes.Gabi is getting ready for 8th grade many of the stores are having back to school sales on top of the no sales tax weekend. There are some limits on what items is tax free. Clothes must be under $100 and accessories must be under $50 to be exempt from sales tax. School supplies are also exempt.
Lisa Meyer, marketing director at McCain Mall, says this is one of their busiest weekends and has some advice for the shoppers. "Make a list, be specific on what you need so you can keep your cost down and enjoy your savings as well."
