  • OAK CREEK, Wisc. (CBS) -- Police are releasing more information about an army veteran accused of killing six people at a Sikh temple in Wisconsin. Some in the community are still afraid.

Investigators could be at a Sikh temple near Milwaukee for most of the week collecting evidence after an army veteran allegedly went on a shooting rampage. Oak Creek Police Chief John Edwards says, "Our investigators are following up on all leads that we have. To give you a motive at this time would be premature."

Police identified the shooter as 40-year-old Wade Michael Page and say he was discharged from the army in 1998. Investigators say he killed six people Sunday at the temple in Oak Creek and wounded three others including an officer before police shot and killed him.

Amardeep Kaleka is the son of the temple's president. His father died trying to stop the attacker. Kaleka says, "My father, by engaging the shooter, saved a tremendous amount of more hardship because people were able to get to cover."

The FBI is confident Page acted alone. Federal authorities are investigating whether this was an act of domestic terrorism or a hate based crime. FBI Special Agent Teresa Carlson says, "We are looking ast ties to white supremacist groups."

Many members of the Sikh community say they've been mistaken for Muslims since 9-11 and that they're scared. One community member says, "That is God's home, everybody goes there to worship and pray for peace for everybody. If that's not safe where is a person going to go?"

FBI agents say they had no indication of any threats against the Oak Creek temple before Sunday' attack. Two worshipers and the injured officer are being treated for gunshot wounds at a local hospital.
