PINE BLUFF, Ark. (KTHV) - Over 300 inmates in the Tucker Unit of the Arkansas Department of Correction are sick.
The 310 inmates are sick with nausea and diarrhea. Officials with the prison say it's not too serious. The inmates are being fed chicken broth and water.
Officials are still not sure if it's a stomach virus or a food borne illness. Several of the inmates who are sick ate chicken salad, but some of the sick inmates ate other foods. Samples of the chicken salad are being sent to the Arkansas Department of Health for analysis.
In case it's a virus, officials say the prison has stopped all outgoing transfers of inmates for now to keep from spreading the bug. This includes five people who were to be paroled today.
