FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. (AP) - Arkansas backup quarterback Brandon Mitchell has made the most of his part-time position switch to wide receiver so far during camp.
If Mitchell's accelerated learning curve continues, it's a move that could become full time.
The junior served as Tyler Wilson's backup last season, completing 22 of 32 passes for 271 yards in limited action. He enjoyed his second stint with the Razorbacks basketball team in the spring, in an attempt to see more game action, but he wanted to see more time on the football field this season.
Mitchell asked Arkansas offensive coordinator Paul Petrino about trying out at receiver during the summer, a move that's paid off following the loss of three top receivers to the NFL after last season.
