PINE BLUFF, Ark. (KTHV) - Early tests by the Arkansas Department of Health find it was likely food poisoning that made almost 400 inmates sick at the Tucker Unit in Pine Bluff.
No new cases of illness have been reported Wednesday. The food poisoning has been traced back to chicken salad served over the weekend.
Prison officials aren't sure of what caused the contamination. As of now 357 inmates got sick.
According to communications administrator Shea Wilson, inmate visitation will resume Saturday. Wilson says they'll also resume inmate transfers to other units on Monday.
In addition, Wilson says the five inmates who were paroled on Monday and then got sick and had to stay at the unit, went home today.
