HOMER, La. (AP) - Federal prosecutors say a 33-year-old former executive director of the Homer Housing Authority and five other people have been charged with embezzling more than $300,000 in public housing funds.
U.S. Attorney Stephanie A. Finley says Michelle Green was arrested Wednesday along with four of her five accomplices.
Prosecutors say Green, who lives in North Little Rock, Ark., was the head of the housing authority when the alleged embezzlement scheme began in December 2007.
Prosecutors said a 16-count indictment accused Green of writing checks to her accomplices and others for work that was never done. They said she embezzled some money for her own use.
