LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (KTHV) - According to the Arkansas Food Bank, their staff discovered thousands of dollars missing from their accounts.
The Food Bank's chief executive officer Phyllis Haynes says that a former staff member is being sought for questioning in connection to the loss.
In a letter to Food Bank "Harvesters," Haynes says, "That's the bad news. The good news is that we caught it, that we reported it immediately to authorities, and that we are insured for the loss so the Food Bank will not lose any money."
Haynes says the organization that helps feed many will continue to do its job of distributing large quantities of food for hungry people in south and central Arkansas.
In the letter, Haynes also says "This is a first for us. I'm sorry to have to share this with you, am as disappointed as you must be, but also resolved that we will deal with this matter and move on to the much more important job of fulfilling our mission. "
