LITTLE ROCK, Ar (KTHV)--When the dogs come in...it's time to shine. The annual American Kennel Club Sanctioned Dog Show is Saturday and Sunday in Little Rock.

Bulldogs, mastiffs, poodles, hounds and more--most of the 175 AKC recognized dog breeds are showcased at this annual event.

Linda Nelson is a veteran exhibitor. Nelson, along with her niece and nephew are showing 8 Australian Shepherds. She says she goes to a dog show, "Most every weekend. Probably, throughout the year, probably 45 weekends a year!"

Judges this weekend are from across the nation--from Florida to California.

Brian Leonard of Hot Springs is showing Zelda, a bulldog, Saturday. Leonard's been on the show ciruit for years.

"Right now we pretty much  just relax and get the dogs ready to go and try to keep them cool and comfortable and kinda get a game face on 'em and get em prettied up!"

Pretty and proper are two qualities the judges look for.
