WHITEHALL TOWNSHIP, Penn. (CNN/WFMZ) - A Pennsylvania woman is charged with murdering her fiancé just hours before their wedding.
Inside a building on Olympic Circle in whitehall there are still blood stains outside apartment seven. Police found 36-year-old Billy Brewster dying from stab wounds just hours before he was set to walk down the aisle. Neighbor Steve Engel says, "There was an argument, I guess -- woke the dog up, woke us up -- but we didn't hear anything and the gentleman got stabbed."
Brewster's fiancé, 31-year-old Na Cola Franklin, is now charged with homicide. Police say four children were in the apartment at the time. One of them reportedly took the knife away. Neighbor Tim Smith says, "I just saw a bunch of police in the hallway and kind of a commotion."
Why Franklin allegedly attacked her soon-to-husband isn't clear. Court papers said Brewster was about to go out for food when an argument broke out and his fiancé stabbed him.
Neighbors say the couple, who lived here less than a year, did not appear to fight often. Smith says, "They had always been quiet. She was really friendly. I didn't really see him that much, but she was really nice."
Engel says, "Never, never, they were very, very nice people. Always said hello, very polite, very friendly."
Franklin is being held without bail in the Lehigh County Prison. Her next court date is August 17.
