HEBER SPRINGS, Ark. (AP) - A trial is set to begin for the man charged in last year's shooting death of a 17-year-old Vilonia girl.
Cody Gorecke is charged with second-degree murder in the January 2011 death of Amanda Allison. Authorities say Gorecke and Allison were at a party in Wilburn when Gorecke allegedly showed off a sawed-off double-barreled shotgun to other party attendees.
Police claim Gorecke was intoxicated when the gun went off, striking Allison in the midsection. She was pronounced dead at the scene by emergency responders.
Gorecke has pleaded not guilty to second-degree murder. The Log Cabin Democrat reports (http://is.gd/dC3XpK) that Gorecke's trial is set to begin Tuesday morning in Cleburne County Circuit Court.
