Landslide in Newton County causes highway to close

Officials say if you are traveling north on Highway 7, you'll need to take Highway 374 and go around. If you need to go south of the fairgrounds, you should travel Highway 74 East and go around.

NEWTON COUNTY, Ark. (KTHV) - Officials say Highway 7, south of the fairgrounds in Newton County is closed due to a landslide.

Detours are in place. Officials say if you are traveling north on Highway 7, you'll need to take Highway 374 and go around. If you need to go south of the fairgrounds, you should travel Highway 74 East and go around.

We're told the recent heavy rain is what caused the landfall.
