FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. (AP) - Arkansas has had a different tone during preseason practices.
The Razorbacks, known for their offensive prowess under former coach Bobby Petrino, have embraced defense under new head coach John L. Smith and new defensive coordinator Paul Haynes.
The change was evident in a weekend scrimmage, when the defense stopped the offense on five straight possessions at one point.
Arkansas has led the Southeastern Conference in passing offense for the last three seasons, but its defense was in the bottom half of the conference in three of four seasons under Petrino.
Haynes says he wants Arkansas to be a threat on defense, too - something that's worked well for fellow SEC West powerhouses LSU and Alabama.
