1st day back to school for Arkansas kids

PULASKI CO., Ark. (KTHV) -- The start of the school year may be stressful for kids but making sure that your child is prepared can make all the difference. Class is back in session Monday for thousands of central Arkansas kids.

THV's Ashley Blackstone talked with Pulaski County School District's Superintendent Dr. Jerry Guess on Monday. Click the video to watch.

-PCSSD is the third-largest school district in the state. Geographically, the district circles the Little Rock and North Little Rock school districts and encompasses 740 square miles.

-PCSSD is expecting a rise in student enrollment this year and predicts the number will be between 17,000 and 18,000 students.

-PCSSD has 356 school buses, and manages its own transportation department.

-PCSSD serves 11,000 student meals every day and has approximately 2,800 employees.

-The district has 37 campuses located in Little Rock, North Little Rock, Sherwood, Maumelle and Jacksonville.
