JONESBORO, Ark. (KTHV) -- The family of a man, who died while in the back of a Jonesboro patrol car, has hired an attorney.
The family of 21-year-old Chavis Carter, has hired the The Cochran Firm out of Memphis.
Last month, during a stop, Carter, was handcuffed and searched twice and put in the back of a patrol car.
Jonesboro police chief Michael Yates says it appears Carter, had a concealed gun and shot himself in the head.
But the family and other supporters have always doubted that theory.
Earlier this week, the department released a video, detailing how that scenario could have occurred, however, they're still looking into the incident.
